CompTIA Security+ certifications Security Administrators

The CompTIA Security+ certification validates the baseline cybersecurity skills required of IT administrators and security professionals. Typical jobs that may require CompTIA Security+ certifications include Security Administrators, Systems and Network Admins, Junior IT Auditors, and Penetration Testers. The CompTIA Security+ certification validates the candidate’s ability to:
Detect various types of threats, attacks and vulnerability, and how penetration testing and vulnerability scanning may be utilized
Install, configure, and deploy network security components, and assess and troubleshoot security threats
Implement a secure network architecture
Install, configure and manage identity and access services
Implement risk management procedures to mitigate business impact
Install and configure wireless security settings and implement public key infrastructure

Required exam: Earning the CompTIA Security+ certification requires passing one exam — CompTIA Security+ (SY0-501).
Prerequisites: None.
Recommended experience: There are no specific prerequisites for the exam, although CompTIA recommends that candidates have obtained CompTIA Network+ certification and two years of experience in IT administration with a security focus.
